It wakes us up in morning, tastes great and keeps us going in all day. Coffee is a blessing. The coffee industry itself is massive and has become one of the biggest in the drink and beverage sector in fact, with plenty of reason for it: it’s affordable, comes in different varieties and it’s mostly-caffeinated options give us the energy we need to take on the daily grind that is our lives.

500 billion cups are consumed each year around the world. With the help Project Waterfall there is  opportunity to make a difference for those less fortunate than ourselves. Each year for UK Coffee Week, participants including thousands of coffee-providers across the country give 100% of the donations they receive to the Project Waterfall initiative. It helps many coffee growing communities get the clean water facilities that are fundamental to their survival. Cafe’s, restaurants, hotels & many other establishments are raising their plastic/paper cups or fine crockery in support of this brilliant initiative. It’s been gaining more success each year. In 2016 alone, £275,000 was raised, bringing the total up to an amazing £580,000. In countries such as Ethiopia; Uganda and Nicaragua, over 21,000 lives have been changed for the better so far thanks to Coffee Week with even more success to be accounted for this year.

Americanos, cappuccinos, espressos or even your finest frappe, there’s no source of coffee goodness that’s off limits. Sure it’s fairly priced but the right coffee can sensationalise your palate. Ever tried out some coffee syrup? You should. There’s chocolate; amaretto, gingerbread, caramel etc. Its amazing. Whether it’s a bit of syrup; milk, whitener or sweetener, coffee can be enjoyed in so may ways. It’s variety is what makes it one of the most popular drinks in the world.

Coffee week is a captivatingly brilliant idea because of the dual benefits on both ends of it’s spectrum. Whilst we’re revelling in the bliss of our divine cafetiere-pressed beverage, we know that support going to the initiative based on this industry is improving thousands of lives each year. The coffee industry is only growing larger with little sign at all of slowing down thus improving the scope of success for UK Coffee Week each year. Fill up your beverage stations, get out your coffee pods, restock your vending coffee or simply pour yourself a cup of the simple, toasty warm wonder that is instant coffee. Drink up, everyone. It’s for a good cause.
